Call for Nominees for Junior League’s Woman of the Year

NEWS RELEASE

The Junior League of Indian River is accepting nominations for the 2019 Woman of the Year. A woman can be nominated in one of four categories: Business/Professional, Civic/Non-Profit Professional, Volunteer, and Rising Star (women ages 17-25). Nomination forms and further information on each category can be found on the Junior League of Indian River homepage at www.jlir.org. The deadline for submissions is February 8, 2019.

“The conversation about the contributions that women make in our community has never been more topical than it is today,” says Susan Aguirre, VP of Fund Development for Junior League of Indian River. “Indian River County has so many inspiring women and Woman of the Year provides a platform to highlight just some of their incredible accomplishments.”

A Woman of the Year nominee is a woman who demonstrates high ethical standards personally, is a recognized role model, has a strong sense of community responsibility and is outstanding in her contributions within Indian River County.  This year, the United Way of Indian River County will be giving the winner of the Rising Star Category $1,000 as a scholarship for education related expenses, or to support the charity of her choice.

The Woman of the Year luncheon will take place on April 24th at the Oak Harbor Club (4755 S Harbor Dr, Vero Beach) at 11:30 a.m. Tickets for the event are $100 and can be purchased on the Junior League’s website at www.jlir.org.

Funds raised from the event will support the Junior League of Indian River’s ongoing local initiatives like Operation Prom and community impact projects held throughout the year. Nomination forms, sponsorship opportunities and additional event information can be found at www.jlir.org. For questions, please emailwoty@jlir.org.
