A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is on stage at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild through March 31.  This Tony-awarded musical romp through ancient Rome, features desperate lovers, scheming toga-clad neighbors, and glamorous courtesans, thirteen singers/dancers/comedians/actors in all, on stage.  Performances are Tuesday – Friday at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 pm. on Saturday and Sunday. Fourteen local artists will greet visitors at the Foyer Gallery of Art in the Emerson Center on Thursday, March 14 from 5 to 7 pm for the opening reception of “Creatures Featured,” a group exhibit featuring animals, on view through April.

Until Death do us Apartis a one-night art exhibition to benefit Women’s Refuge of Vero Beach, featuring Venezuelan visual artist Amiiri Cantillo.  It will be held at Raw Space Gallery, 1795 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach on Thursday, March 14 from 6 to 9 pm.

The Emerson Center presents Florida’s First Ladies, a part of the Florida Humanities Series on Thursday, March 14 at 7 pm.  Dr. Peggy Macdonald, executive director of Gainesville’s Matheson History Museum, will resolve the controversy over the identity of Florida’s “first” first lady, explain the challenges endured by Florida’s Civil War first lady, and focus on the first ladies who left their mark on Florida’s environment, education systems, and more.  Free.

Beginning Thursday, March 14 the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce Business Treasure Hunt will be held downtown along 14th Avenue.  Stop by the Chamber office and pick up a map of participating businesses.  Visit each business (make sure they record your visit) and shop at two of them.  Bring proof to the Chamber at 1957 14th Avenue by 3 pm on March 21.  Participants have a chance to win $500, $300 or $200!   Visit: VeroChamber.com

The J.M. Stringer Gallery presents Spontaneity in Nature, featuring Joseph Sundwall (at left) and George Van Hook (at right). Both Sundwall and Van Hook have found their muse in nature. Stories in the Raw returns to Raw Space Gallery, 1795 Old Dixie Hwy in Vero Beach on Friday, March 15 at 7 pm. Out of the Blue will be the theme of the second storytelling event produced by Xaque Gruber. Admission $10. Proceeds go to The Faces Of Eve Organization helping local women start their own business.

FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MARCH 15-17
Antique Show at McKee.

McKee Botanical Garden is hosting its 2nd Annual Garden & Antique Show and Sale from Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17.  This event will feature a vast selection of exceptional and distinct antique furniture, paintings, outdoor garden benches and fountains, garden accessories, statuary, oriental rugs, estate jewelry, and more.   Admission is $12 Adults, $11 Seniors, $8 Children. Members and children under 3, free.

SATURDAY,  MARCH  16

Airport Heritage Day, to celebrate the Airport’s 90th Anniversary and Vero Beach’s Centennial will be held on Saturday, March 16 from noon to 4 pm.  There will be airport displays and exhibits.  Admission is free.

The Sebastian Inlet State Park Night Sounds Concert Series hosts Alize on Saturday, March 16 from 7 to 9 pm.  Alize plays reggae music as well as Island, SOCA, Top 40, Funk, Soft Rock and even a little country. The concert is free with regular park entry fees.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17

The Indian River Symphonic Association’s A Festival of Orchestras presents the Brevard Symphony Orchestra performing An Irish Musical Celebration on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17 at 7:30 pm at Community Church in Vero Beach.  For tickets, call (772) 778-1070 or visit www.irsymphonic.org.

The Center for Spiritual Care is hosting a program on Sunday, March 17 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm titled Climate Change and a Faith Response: “Laudato Si’.”  The program begins with the facts – “Everything You Need to Know about Climate Change in 15 minutes.”  We will then explore the theology behind Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical, “Laudato Si’.”  Then, closing with a ritual connecting our personal actions to our faith, our common home, and our sisters and brothers.  To register (there is no cost) visit CenterForSpiritualCare.org.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20

The North Indian River County Library hosts Mark Black, recent inductee into the NY Chapter of the Blues Hall of fame, for a presentation,  A History of the 50’s & 60’s Through the Lens of Popular Song on Wednesday,  March 20 at 2 pm.  In the presentation, Marc uses a wide range of popular songs combined with a slide show.  Free.

A Conversation with Jimmy Webb, moderated by Rhett Palmer, will be held at the Vero Beach Book Center on Wednesday, March 20 at 4 pm.  Jimmy Webb will present his memoir, The Cake and the Rain prior to a concert the following day to be presented by MusicWorks, Inc. and Paris Productions at the Emerson Center.  The Book Center event is free.
