Nine members of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group (CSOG) recently traveled to Moundsville, West Virginia to compete in an international tactical team skills competition. A total of 35 teams from around the world competed over two days in five events. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office team placed 6th overall. This annual competition draws more than 1,200 corrections and law enforcement officers and officials, who this year represented 33 states and 22 international countries. The competition consisted of a mock prison riot on the grounds of the decommissioned West Virginia Penitentiary.
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “This competition was a great opportunity for our team to measure their skills against their peers from other agencies in Florida, around the United States, and internationally. They competed against teams from Orange County, Sarasota County, Michigan, Singapore, Japan, Guatemala, and many more. We are proud of the team for this accomplishment.”
