ART IN PUBLIC PLACES IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING
As the Administrator for several of the Art in Public Places program for the Cultural Council of IRC, I am excited that so many area artists are showing us your inspiration in a time of social distancing! Keep sending us your efforts: be they guided by an inner journey, by an external influence or by the simple desire to say “I’m here creating”. We want to know that you are out there, lighting up your world. And we want to share those inspirations with the Community. When we are able to hang new Art in Public Places shows, we will showcase work that has been created by you during this period. Thank you, from myself and the Cultural Council, for being an important part of the Creative Community.
Thank you to the artists who have submitted their work, created during social distancing, for our viewing pleasure. We invite you to see the artists submissions on our website. Visit: http://www.cultural-council.org/art-for-art-sake. To submit artwork, send JPG or PDF images with your name and the title of the piece (optionally, include a short description) via email to info@ cultural-council.org for our approval and posting.

The special exhibition James F. Hutchinson: Visionary Truths has been extended indefinitely, courtesy of the artist. The Backus Museum is grateful to Mr. Hutchinson in allowing this extension, so that during our community’s recovery from the COVID-19 public health crisis, visitors will be able to delight in the magnificent work of this Florida Artists Hall of Fame master. The Museum is located at 500 North Indian River Drive in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce. James F. Hutchinson: Visionary Truths features more than 30 oil paintings that present the exquisite variety of scenes from Florida, Hawai’i, Jamaica, and the American West, as well as perceptive Seminole portraits and glimpses of a vanished way of life, all rendered with deep and genuine insight by a modern master.
