The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce held the 14th Leadership Indian River County graduation celebration on September 22, 2020 with twenty-one individuals completing the 2020 program. The Chamber began Leadership Indian River County in 2006 and have since graduated 292 individuals. Former graduates have been inspired to open their own businesses, taken leadership positions in their companies and local organizations, and have been elected to public office.
Guest speaker for the graduation was Karen Deigl, executive director of the Senior Resource Association. Ms. Deigl spoke to the group about eight points of being a good leader. She gave personal testimonies of what shaped her “why’s” and how she was able to visualized her vision for her goals. Ms. Deigl challenged the Leadership IRC graduates to get involved in our community.

Leadership Indian River County is a seven-month long community leadership program offered by the Chamber. The program is based on a model that incorporates nourishing and developing community leaders by building community knowledge and gaining an understanding of community stewardship. The program brings focus on variety of social, economic, and geographic issues.
The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce will accept applications for the 2021 Leadership Indian River County class in January 2021. A new class will be named in March. Scholarships are available.
