Kindness a driving force behind Gifford Youth Achievement Center’s Drive-In Movie Night

Drive-in Movie Night at Riverside Park November 13

What was almost a washout, the Gifford Youth Achievement Center’s (GYAC) Drive-In Movie Night turned out to be a drive-in success.  The clouds cleared and the field dried just in time for the 32-foot inflatable screen to be erected on the lawn of Riverside Park.

“From the welcome bag, raffles and all the way to the end of this life transforming movie- we really enjoyed doing this with our son!” remarked Nicole Ballinger, drive-in movie guest and owner of Ocean Strings Studio. “He never experienced a drive-in movie like his Dad and I did growing up- until this week!”

“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” starring Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers drove the message of kindness and compassion home to guests as they watched the flick from the comfort of their vehicles and lawn chairs.

As the event’s exclusive food truck, The Source’s Dignity Food Truck team served up drive-in movie favorites from popcorn and candy to hot dogs and fries.

“We want to thank everyone who came out to support GYAC,” stated Angelia Perry, the Center’s Executive Director. “Now everyone wants to know when the next one will be.”
