GYAC’s (Mobile) Back-to-School Bash Saturday, August 7th

news release

The Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC) is preparing for its 23rd annual Back-to-School Bash. After a trying year for both parents and students, families need your help. Last year, with help from the community, GYAC distributed more than 850 backpacks filled with folders, paper, pencils, glue sticks and much more.

This year’s (mobile) Back-to-School Bash will take place on Saturday, August 7 in the Gifford Youth Achievement Center’s parking lot starting at 9am.  The event is open to all Indian River County students in need of supplies.

With uncertainty looming and many parents displaced from their jobs, purchasing school supplies can present a true challenge. “GYAC’s annual Back-to-School Bash is more than a time for the distribution of school supplies.  It is also a time to lift up and encourage our youth to be the best that they can be this upcoming school year,” said Freddie Woolfork, GYAC’s Director of Public Relations and Facilities Operations.

Supplies such as: backpacks, composition notebooks, rulers, pocket folders, notebook paper, pens, pencils, markers, glue, highlighters, hand sanitizer, notecards, calculators and colored pencils are gratefully accepted. Monetary contributions are also welcome. School supplies will be collected at the Gifford Youth Achievement Center until Friday, August 6.

Supplies made possible by the following organizations:

  • Buddy’s Home Furnishings, Vero
  • Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital
  • Community Church
  • Disney Resort
