New executive director joins Healthy Start Coalition

Joseph RobinsonChairman of the Board of Directors of the Indian River Healthy Start Coalition (IRCHSC)announces Kathleen Ann Cain as the new Executive Director for the non-profit organization.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are very pleased to have Kathleen joining the Healthy Start Coalition,” states Robinson. “Her outstanding expertise in providing accountability, strategic planning, and clinical and business initiatives to IRCHSC, as well as her knowledge of health care and non-profit organizations while coupled with an extraordinary management style, makes her the perfect fit for this organization.”

Ms. Cain is a twenty year resident of Vero Beach, less several years spent in Baltimore, Maryland to receive an M.B.A., Medical Services Management degree at Johns Hopkins University. She has also received an M.S., in Health Care Services Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois and a B.S. in Health Information Administration from Seattle University in Seattle, Washington.  Her previous affiliations in Vero Beach has been as a private Health and Management Consultant, the Practice Manager at Urgent Care West, as well as the Administrator and Business Manager of Vero Orthopaedics.

“I have a passion for serving our community to assure all pregnant mothers and their infant children receive the educational and support services necessary for a healthy start” remarks Cain.  “My vision is to see the Coalition as a vital partner collaborating with other community service organizations to resolve problems or issues that arise within a maternal and child health care delivery system with effective, positive change in Indian River County. I believe this is what non-profits are all about, providing the resources to individuals who need crucial educational and financial assistance to succeed. The return on investment for the community is multifold in the way we live and work. I look forward to building a strong development program for IRCHSC, as well as delivering a high standard of services and resources for the benefit of all the mothers and their babies in this community.”

The IRC Healthy Start Coalition develops, evaluates and funds a full spectrum of services to support pregnant women’s health, baby’s health and families parenting young children.   1. For the fifth year the Healthy Start Coalition will receive funding from the increasingly popular Dancing with Vero Stars event. This year they are additing another feaure which is a presentation of the movie “Safe Haven” that is based on a Nicholas Sparks book. The special fundraiser will be Sunday, February 17th at 3:30 p.m. at the Majestic Theater. The ticket price in advance is $20 per adult at the box office.. Ticket price includes the movie, soda, popcorn and a raffle ticket toward an array of great prizes.

    Attending the movie will also provide the opportunity to meet the local celebrities who will dance at the May 11th event at Riverside Theater.
