
Triton Submarines president Patrick Lahey said today the local manufacturer of personal submersibles plans to hire 24 additional employees over the next two years as as result of the County Commission’s approval of the company’s jobs grand application.
“We are very pleased that programs like our Local Jobs Grant can assist an existing local company in their expansion plans. We’re not only interested in attracting new business to Indian River County, but also encouraging our local businesses to expand and add jobs,” commented County Commissioner Tim Zorc, the Commission’s economic development liaison.
Trident plans to fill 24 new positions over the next two years, adding to their 14 employees. The grant award of up to $94,000 will be paid over a three-year period after the new jobs are in place.
Triton manufactures manned submersibles designed for yacht-based deployment, and is emerging as a global leader in deep diving submersible engineering, design, manufacture and operations. The company has partnered with numerous oceanographic research firms worldwide as well as film crews and adventure tourism companies.
