
Exchange Club of Indian River member Nancy Gollnick was elected president-elect of Florida District Exchange Clubs at the District’s Annual Convention in Cocoa Beach on June 1. As District President, she will be responsible for leading the Board of Directors in support of more than one thousand members in Florida’s 28 Exchange Clubs in the 2014-2015 year.
The seventh woman to lead the organization since it was founded in 1924, Gollnick is the first District president elected from the Indian River club since Bill Romani served in that position in 1979-1980. Two other Indian River County Exchangites, Diana Walker of Exchange Club of Vero Beach and Eric Menger of the Treasure Coast Club, have recently led the statewide organization
Gollnick is Assistant to the Vice President, Vero Beach Sports Village; she previously worked for Los Angeles Dodgers for eighteen years. She has lived in Vero Beach since she was six years old. She joined Exchange Club of Indian River in 2001 and has served as its president, secretary, and editor of the club’s award-winning newsletter. She was the club’s Exchangite of the Year two times. She has served on Florida’s District Board for four years as director of Division II and secretary.
Exchange Club of Indian River has provided the community with programs in youth activities, service, and Americanism since 1973. It is affiliated with America’s service club, the National Exchange Club. Members meet for lunch at Culinary Capers each Wednesday at noon. Meetings feature programs on a wide range of business, government and civic, charity, personal, and professional topics.
Through participation in its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse, the Exchange Club of Indian River’s Foundation supports a number of local child abuse prevention projects and charities. The foundation’s fishing tournament, held each May, funds these projects. The club is also a partner in the upcoming Vero Beach Air Show.
