In response to a comment posted on TCPalm.com, Planning and Zoning Commission member Mark Mucher wrote, “Could be that there are WAY more over-sensitive humanists (and unforgiving Jews in Craig’s case) than anyone ever imagined!”
Mucher’s comment, posted June 25 on TCPalm.com, reiterated a point made by another commenter in questioning the motivations of Linda Hillman, who is, she said, pressing ahead with plans to initiate a recall petition against Mayor Craig Fletcher and Vice Mayor Tracy Carroll.
Carroll and Fletcher are under fire for statements they made during the June 4 City Council meeting. In refusing to support a proclamation for Humanist Recognition Week, Carroll said her Internet research led her to conclude that Humanists are atheists. Fletcher said he would not support groups that “do not believe in Jesus Christ as their savior.”
Mucher was participating in an on line tit-for-tat sparked by a column written by Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers editorial page editor, Larry Reisman.

Giz,
Do you really think that the continued piling on after they both apologized has ANYTHING to do with their stance on the electric sale?
HAHA
Could be that there are WAY more over-sensitive humanists (and unforgiving Jews in Craig’s case) than anyone ever imagined!

It appears we’re learning more each day about some of the people sitting as volunteers on boards or elected to offices. Actually, I believe that is a good thing–and not any too soon. Cathy “The Christian”
I can’t remember the last time I even looked at the Press-Journal or TCPalm. Or 32963 for that matter. Am I missing anything?
Mr. Mucher takes on being the “token” spokesperson for all of the “yes” FPL council members. He hasn’t a clue that this is NOT about the sale of the utility. Is he a Jew? Fletcher’s GOD will know. I believe if Mucher just shuts up it would be better than stumbling in the dark. Where’s the light???
How can ANY person make statements as he has?
If we continue to send up smoke screens then we get further from the issues. The voice of reason comes from disgusted citizens collectively, not from singular groups. These issues are about arrogance and bigotry. All citizens have every right to expect elected officials in such high offices to protect all of our rights and the interests of city that they serve. Before any official acts, it is their responsibility to be aware of the facts and issues, this is why both the mayor and vice mayor are accountable! The apology by the mayor was not for what he said, he meant it, but for only those that were offended by his actions.
Ignore him!!

Mark Mulcher has joined the coalition of COVB “leaders” who have demonstrated that they are not aware that we are living in the 21st century. Bigotry has no place in any civilized society.
Indian River County is gaining the reputation as an intolerant community because the remarks and actions of our “leaders” have gone viral on the Internet and social media web sites.
