Transactional attorney to report to Council Tuesday

John Igoe, and attorney with the law firm handling the negotiations on the proposed sale of Vero Electric, will report to the City Council Tuesday. Not even the most optimistic spinmeisters are claiming all is going well in the negotiations.

Frustrated with the slow pace and high cost of negotiations, City Councilman Richard Winger plans to propose hiring a second outside law firm to critique the work of the transactional attorneys and to give the Council a “second opinion.”

  1. I assume Mr. Winger is not very familiar with the legal world. This is not a solution, and it’s a waste of money as you will have no way of understanding whether or not the next firm is willing to be an honest judge of the work being done without completely reviewing every inch of what has happened in the past 3 years. We already know Igoe & Co. missed key deadlines, and if anyone thinks their plan to convince the FMPA that Vero Beach wasn’t REALLY selling the utility, just abandoning it, was a good plan, they are not living in the real world. We already know what their work has been, just have the guts to point it out and stop wasting our money because you want someone else to make a decision.
