This week, Vero Beach City Councilman Richard Winger and civic activist and former Councilman Ken Daige join Milt Thomas and Mark Schumann to discuss the impact of recent budget cuts on city services, as well as the proposed staffing reductions to be considered at this coming Tuesday’s City Council meeting. This program will air again Thursday 3:30-4:30.
Winger said he will ask the Council to retain the animal control officer position, maintain the current staffing in the Clerk’s office, increase funding for parks maintenance by $50,000 and dispense with the idea of selling Crestlawn Cemetery.
In a broad and wide-ranging conversation, Winger and Daige discuss why and how Vero Beach developed its special character. Looking to the future, they explore what it will take to “Keep Our Vero, Vero,” as Winger puts it, while working to make the community a better place to live.
