We recently had a resident who is on septic tank make an effort to rally his neighbors to do something about this problem. His efforts met resistance by the neighbors who don’t want to spend a dime that they don’t have to, even if they are knowingly poisoning the lagoon. Not only that, but his motives were brought into question by a member of the utility commission. Apathy is what caused this problem. Place a moratorium on new drainfields on the lagoon and float a bond to bring sewer to the barrier island. Assess the homeowner a reasonable amount and lets get this done.
