Robert Joseph Thaman, 89, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Mr. Thaman was born May 25, 1924 in Covington, KY. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1989, coming from Kentucky. Robert served as a P.F.C. in the United States Army during WWII. In Europe he fought in the invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Auschwitz. Prior to his retirement he worked as a truck driver for over 40 years. Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Susan Thaman; son, Jeremi Thaman of Florida; daughters, Geraldine Bowder and Carol Ann Thaman both of South Carolina; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Thaman Jr. A memorial service is planned in May of 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY. Aimee Thompson, 85, died August 13, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. She was born in Prosperity, West Virginia and lived in Micco coming from Trenton, FL. She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God, Trenton, FL where she loved to spread the gospel. Survivors include brother, Albert Williams of Micco; nephew, John Williams (Robyn) of Micco; niece, Ellen Lancaster of Mooresville, North Carolina; great-nephew, Timmy Yates of Micco; great-nieces, Lauren and Alexis and Karla Lancaster of Mooresville, North Carolin. She was preceded in death by husband, Phillip Thompson; mother, Mervile Sturgill and brother, Robert Bruce.
