Ready to surrender the quality and character of a community that is, at least for now, still the gem of the Treasure Coast, the Vero Beach City Council voted recently to allow the sale of advertising on lifeguard stands. What’s next, advertising signs in the Council Chambers? To his credit, at least Councilman Winger encouraged the Council to step back and take a month to let the idea simmer, but his advice was to on avail. The Vero Beach City Council proved yet again that nothing dies harder than a bad idea.

Is it true City Council members will be attending various city events to man the City of Vero Beach Lemonade Stand……..GET YOUR OFFICIAL VERO BEACH, HAND-SQUEEZED LEMONADE AND HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES! Support your local government……cheap…..
More pollution………….what next?. It will be outsourcing with the city of Orlando collecting the garbage in their trucks. Once it starts it will never be reversed.
Day by day the “leaders” in this community are chipping away at the very things that make Vero Beach unique.
Now that the City Council is allowing advertisements on the lifeguard stands it is only a matter of time before Tracy Carroll and her husband begin to advertise their short term rental property on the beach.
Goodbye tourists!
Ft Lauderdale will be jealous, what atrocious mismanagement. How about a Huge billboard with a hotdog on it along I-95? Cheap and commercial Veto Beach. Welcome all litterers!
You might have made a typing error in writing “Veto Beach”…but that sounds perfect for this latest choice of amusement from the city council…”Veto Beach”….I like it.
The cost of the attorney to fight the Tracy Carroll short term rental code appeal is just another example of spending on attorneys and consultants instead of our City and its programs. Shame on her for this waste. She could have paid a small fine and just moved on…but no! The Little League may get their lights turned off but Tracy will get her day in court.
Where do you see “Veto Beach”?
WELL HERE IS AN AD RIGHT NOW…
SINCE Vero Beach WILL NOT HAVE A CEREMONY FOR THE 9/11 ATTACK, LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN HONORS 9/11 EVERY YEAR WITH AN EXCELLENT CEREMONY. ED MOTICA OF THE AMERICAN LEGION IN SEBASTIAN IS THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES AND THE CEREMONY STARTS AT 8:45 AM IN SEBASTIAN’S BEAUTIFUL RIVERVIEW PARK. GET THERE EARLY FOR SEATS, AS ALWAYS THERE IS NO ADMISSION CHARGE AND THERE IS ALWAYS AMPLE PARKING.
A SPECIAL NOTE OF THANKS TO THE VERO BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT, YOUR CEREMONY HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXCEPTIONAL, AND I AM SORRY THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DID NOT PERMIT THIS YEARS CEREMONY. WE RESIDENTS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ARE “BLESSED” WITH AN EXEMPLARY FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT. WE ALL SHOULD REALIZE THE CONSTANT DANGERS OF YOUR JOBS AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS WE THANK OUR VETERANS!
Mark…on the second comment of SouthBeachLover…the remark is “Cheap and commercial Veto Beach”. Am I reading that wrong? Don’t think so.
Lhillman just an appropo typo if these decisions are not challenged or refuted.
Luckily, on November 5th, we all have an opportunity to unseat the absent minded Tracy Carroll. I recommend voting for the only Democrat on the ticket and the only ACTUAL conservative, Amelia Graves. She wants to conserve the lagoon, conserve the budget, and conserve Vero Beach.
