Inez Elliott, 86, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2013, at her home in Vero Beach, FL. She was born on Oct 18, 1926 in Greenville, FL to Frank and Alpha Butler. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Kendall and brother, C.J. Thigpen. Inez is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, Ed; her sister, Thelma Norris; three brothers, Henry Thigpen, Clarence Thigpen, and Gene Thigpen; one son, Dan Starling, two daughters, Gloria Parham and Glenda Starling, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. In her earlier life, Inez lived in Gainesville, FL, where she inherited a plastering business which she ran successfully for several years, as well as partnering a child care center. While in Gainesville, she continued her education through courses at the University of Florida. Inez and Ed enjoyed traveling throughout the western US, Canada, and Alaska nearly every year of their 20 years together. In addition, she always had time to spend with friends, family, children, and grandchildren. She was very involved with the Vero Beach High School Class of ’51 girls’ lunch group as well as an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Inez was a very special person, greatly admired by all and loved by everyone she knew. She was a strong believer in God and had talked many times about her plans to see us all again in heaven. Mrs. Sandra Edith Flinn, 71, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord Sun., Sept. 15th.
“Sandy” was born Nov. 15, 1941 in Elizabethtown, NY to Herman and Ruth Bohlman and later moved to Southington, CT. Sandy relocated to Meriden, CT where she raised her two sons while working at International Silver. After moving to Vero Beach, FL in 1982 Sandy served in the Prison Ministry for 17 years sharing God’s love at the Indian River Correctional Institute earning several awards in recognition of her dedication.
Sandy married Curtis Flinn, originally from Charleston, W. VA, on Sept. 22, 1996. During the last 12 years Sandy has been an intricate part of the Women’s Ministry at the First Church of God in Vero Beach where she and her husband worshipped.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Curtis Flinn, of Vero Beach, FL, sons Daniel Brunet of Meriden, CT and Donald Brunet of Port Orange, FL, granddaughter Tanya (Michael) Brunet, of New York, NY, brothers Richard (Ivy) Bohlman of Vero Beach, Donald Bohlman of Bristol, CT, Gary (Linda) Bohlman of Southington, CT, Michael (Debbie) Bohlman of Bristol, CT along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Steven Cecil Martin, 71, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on September 13,2013 doing what he loved, sailing. Steve was born in Annapolis Maryland on Feb 7, 1942. He was a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy and an accomplished sailor. In 1964 he sailed in the Olympic Trails. In 1992 he was inducted in the United States Coast Guard Athletic Hall of Fame. After his Coast Guard duty, he started his career in Baltimore Maryland with IBM, where he met the love of his life Eileen. Three shorts months later they were married and decided to start an adventure. They bought a sailboat and cruised the world. Two years later they found the quaint town of Vero Beach. Steve was a staunch protector of the Indian River Lagoon and it’s beautiful shore line. He defended it for thirty eight years as the chairman of the city Marine Advisory Commission. Steve was co-owner of Sun Sweet Fruit Company and retired in 2004. Steve was a true gentleman of honor and character and the world will not be the same without him. We will miss his quick wit and mischievous smile. He is survived by his wife Eileen, daughter Laura Martin (husband Chris Spoerer), son Aaron (wife Nicole) and his Granddaughters Quin and Tenley and his brother Kit Martin. Mrs. Guerrie Brown Miller, 76, of Vero Beach, FL died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Guerrie was born in West Palm Beach, FL and grew up in Delray Beach, FL. She had lived in Creede, CO before moving to Ocala, FL and then fifteen years ago moved to Vero Beach. Guerrie had been an interior designer with the Homestead House in Albuquerque, NM having previously worked as a Pan-Am Flight Attendant. She was an accomplished and well-known watercolor artist within the Vero Beach Community and was a member of the Vero Beach World Wings Association. Guerrie enjoyed playing tennis and raising orchids. Survivors include her husband Evan Miller of Vero Beach; son Scott Robertson (Marcie) of Jackson, MS; a sister Donnie MacNab Brown of Lantana, FL and four grandchildren Pierce, Marcella, Devon and Damian. She was preceded in death by her daughter Louise Robertson, a sister Verdery Brown Brown, and her parents J. Leslie Brown and Anita Self Brown of Delray Beach. Herman J. “Jud” Suttle died peacefully early Sunday morning September 15, 2013 at Riverstone Hospice House in Billings, Montana. Jud is survived by his wife of 66 years Beverly R. (welch) Suttle. Jud and Beverly had 3 children. Daughter Carol Suttle Scher-Stanley. Sons Herman J. (Judd) Suttle, Jr (wife Tammy} and Timothy Lee Suttle (wife Cathy}. Nine Grandchildren and Thirteen Great-Grandchildren. Many Nieces, Nephews and cousins across the country. Jud was born and raised in Harrison County, WVA. Jud was a WWII Army Veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. After the war he attended Potomac State College in Keyser, WVA where he met his future Bride, Beverly. They were married on January 9th, 1947 in Keyser. Jud received his degree in Physical Education from George Washington University in Washington, DC. During the mid 1950’s until 1963 he was an elementary school teacher and principal in Spotsylvania, VA. After receiving his Masters in Education from the University of Virginia, he moved the family to Vero Beach, FL. Jud and Bev retired from Indian River County School System in June of 1986. Jud was a long standing member of the Vero Beach Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing with his long time friends. Weekly breakfast get togethers with his fellow retired principals. Traveling to WVA and Montana and just listening to the Grass grow. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with us. We are all blessed to have had him in our lives for so long. He will be sorely missed by all. Viewing will be held from 4-5 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 with a service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach. Dr. Floyd Hall of the First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
