City Council to meet today, critics of the troika beware

In June, Utility Commission Chairman Scott Stradley chose a meeting from which Councilman Jay Kramer was absent to go before the Council and criticize Kramer. Stradley went so far as to accused Kramer of an “egregious”  breach of the public trust.

At no time during Stradley’s attack on Kramer did Vice Mayor Tracy Carroll object, as she did during the Sept. 3  Council meeting, when Brian Heady had some less than flattering observations to make about the Vice Mayor.

For his part, Mayor Craig Fletcher allowed Stradley to attack Kramer before the Council and the cameras.  But when Carroll leaned over to suggest Heady was out of order, the Mayor soon arranged for Heady to be ushered from the lectern by a Vero Beach police officer.

  1. What’s good for the goose is never good for the gander with this crowd.

Charlie Wilson and Scott Stradley are cut from the same “I support Tracy Carroll” mold so….what do you expect from any of the troika. They will allow Wilson and Stradley all the time at the microphone they might need to spew their venom on anyone who does not agree with them and cut the microphone or hassle anyone who might not agree with them.

Maybe someone should have cut the mic’s when Fletcher and Carroll spouted off their religious beliefs to the public and tried to muzzle Phil Katrovitz when he was at the lectern to receive a proclamation from the Humanists group.

Yes, it just might be another interesting city council meeting. Thanks for the heads up Mark.

  2. It very easy to attack someone when he is not present at the meeting. After the egregious attack of Charlie Wilson upon Mark Schumann yesterday what can you expect from his buddy Scott Stradley ? We all know Wilson and Stradley can say anything they want at a meeting, but others cannot. Just ask Mr Heady. As soon as you mention someone by name, who is on the protected list,( Fletcher, Turner and Carroll ) down comes the gavel and in come the cops to escort you out the door. Fletcher runs a totalitarian meeting . It”s OK for the mayor and Tracy Carroll to humiliate citizens , and it’s OK for the likes of Wilson and Stradley to say what ever they want, but don’t let anyone else try it.

  3. You are right, Mark. I forgot about it. But Stradley did mention Jay’s name many times during his speech. Last meeting Tracy was there to stop Brian, but Jay was not even at the meeting to defend himself. To bad that Craig is allowing this to happen…There are clearly double standards…

  4. The double standard – isn’t that what various groups of people have struggled to eliminate since almost the beginning? It’s okay to trash Humanists or atheists; not okay to trash Christians. It’s okay to let Charlie Wilson refuse to give his address for supposedly fearing repeat of home robbery–but everyone else is required to give their address. It’s okay for Mr. Stradley to talk against Mr. Kramer when the latter is out of town. It’s not okay for Mr. Headley, Mr. Guffanti, Mrs. Hillman or anyone else to “get personal” when referring to a particular member on the Council. It’s okay to get rid of the double standard supporters on election day.

  5. Mark: If I were able to attend the council meeting this evening my intention was to mention just that event in June. It is a shame that the “three” on the council will personally attack Mr. Kramer and Mr. Winger sitting in their seats during the meetings and allow others from their “circle” do the same but any person from the public is not “allowed” to mention their name when talking about events such as my recall. I studied that meeting you have mentioned when Scott Stradley spoke and CAN NOT believe that they all sat with eager ears as Mr. Stradley (Mr. taken lightly please), put everything he had into making a point of Mr. Kramers letter to FERC and then at the following meeting had the gall to say I consider “Jay” to be a friend…ARE YOU KIDDING ME????

Thank you Mark for your honesty when writing about the disparity with our city council members. The old addage “Do unto others as you would want done onto you”, does not apply to the Troika. Change needs to happen.
