Inside Vero will host a candidate roundtable discussion Thursday , Oct. 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Heritage Center. The six candidates running for two seats on the Vero Beach City Council have been invited to engage in a discussion focusing on quality of life issues. The candidate roundtable will be open to the public and will be aired the following Thursday on from 3:30 to 5:00 on WAXE AM 1370 and FM 107.9.
“At least two traditional forums are planned at which the candidates will likely debate the sale of Vero Electric. We have chosen to invite the candidates to join in a thoughtful discussion about other matters that will continue to be important to the community well after Vero Beach is out of the electric power business,” said Inside Vero publisher Mark Schumann.
“Beyond the sale of the electric system, voters want to know what each candidates believes is important about the quality of life in the community, and they want to know what the candidate think local government can and should do to preserve quality of life,” Schumann added.
Inside Vero associate editor, Milt Thomas. will participate in moderating the candidate roundtable. The Heritage Center is located at 2140 14th Avenue in downtown Vero Beach.

I only hope that the COVB voters ask questions about the short-term rentals that threaten the way of life in Vero Beach.
Pat, the county removed any restrictions it had on short term rentals, daily, etc. Unless you have a homeowners association or covenant and if you live in the county will have them next to you also.
It is pretty tacky of 32963 to schedule their candidate debate on the same date and time so the voters (and candidates) will be unable to participate in both. Deliberate rudeness on their part that certainly does not indicate a desire to benefit the electorate of Vero Beach. Since Inside Vero’s event was announced first it appears that an intentional conflict was created on their part. It is pretty clear that they care only about one zip code which is at least consistent with the name of the publication.

We already have commitments from Amelia Graves, Brian Heady, Warren Winchester, and Richard Winger. Joseph Guffanti, unfortunately, will be out of town. The only candidate who has yet to accept our invitation is Vice Mayor Tracy Carroll, who is currently out of town. Hopefully she will be able to join us.
