
Brady Ballard has been named Vice President, Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach, Florida, President and CEO Peter O’Malley announced today. The Historic Dodgertown campus was home to Dodger spring trainings from 1948-2008.
“We are very happy to announce the addition of Brady to our management team at Historic Dodgertown,” said O’Malley. “He has unbounded enthusiasm for taking our year-round, multi-sport facility to a higher level. With Brady’s business and marketing background, creativity and strong work ethic, we are confident that Historic Dodgertown will thrive into the future.”
Ballard joins current Vice President Craig Callan and the talented and longtime staff at Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach in managing the iconic site.
Ballard had served as general manager of the Daytona Cubs, Advanced Class-A team of the Chicago Cubs, for the past four years. In 2013, the Daytona Cubs set an organizational record for per game attendance at 2,518 and experienced a significant increase in merchandise sales following the release of a rebranded team logo in 2012. He oversaw all facets of team and stadium operations, including sales, marketing, advertising, food and beverage service, staff development and community relations. Additionally, the Cubs won the Florida State League Championship just weeks ago and also in 2011 during Ballard’s tenure.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to work for the O’Malley family and to be affiliated with the longstanding tradition at Historic Dodgertown, which is world-famous,” said Ballard, an economics graduate of the University of Illinois and a former academic All-Big Ten baseball player in 2000-2001. “I am looking forward to getting to know the great residents of Vero Beach, Indian River County. I welcome the chance to bring my business and baseball background to further enhance this unique site. To work alongside Vice President Craig Callan, who has become an institution in this community with his 35 years of experience, will be very rewarding.”
Prior to his eight seasons with the Daytona Cubs, Ballard served as group sales manager and sponsorship and promotions manager for the Jacksonville Suns in 2004-2005, then a Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Southern League. He also oversaw all event merchandise sales at University of Illinois athletic events from 2001-2003.
Ballard and his wife, Gina, plan to relocate to the community from South Daytona.
