Vice Mayor Tracy Carroll, who, along with her husband, John, were cited by a City code enforcement officer for violating a long-standing prohibition against short-term rentals, declined to sign a proclamation recognizing the work of the City’s Code Enforcement Department during the past year.  The proclamation was presented at last night’s City Council meeting in recognition of National Code Compliance Month.

The Carroll’s dispute with the City is being appealed to the circuit courts.  See Earlier Story

  1. You have to give her some credit for acknowledging her dislike of the officers who cite her for code violations. There is a hint of honesty there as opposed to the slogan on her campaign signs, which is an outright lie. Her claim that she is fighting for lower electric rates while consistently voting to increase those same rates creates a short circuit in the brain.

  2. Tracy Carroll has added a new low into her terrible public record. I guess we must conclude that she is opposed to reasonable people who protect city zoning and code ordinances as well as other boards which are responsible to maintain our laws ,insure our property values, and quality of life in our neighborhoohs here in Vero. Because of her the city will incur thousands of dollars in legal fees. Shame on her .

  3. So, we have a City Council person who doesn’t support Code Enforcement because she and hubby got caught? Great! What a wonderful example she is to the rest of us. There’s certainly more than lower electric rates on HER mind, and it doesn’t have anything to do with making life better for anyone else beyond her own property lines. In my opinion, anyway.

  4. It was not only unfair to the other candidates to have FPL do their “sale update” right before the candidates were to be introduced for the forum but…it was rude of the Taxpayers Association to dupe the public in such a manner. We were invited to a candidate forum, not a sales pitch for FPL.

But, Brunjes did say that the financial positions to the city will not change because of their talks with FMPA. Don’t know what that really means in FPL SPEAK but i will take her for her word….for now. She did trip over her words a bit and let on that the city is complete with their part of the sale and the rest is up to FPL and FMPA. So….by her own admission…Tracy Carroll is now moot when it comes to being needed for the completion of the next phase of the sale.

For my complete run down of the meeting you can check out Bea-isms.

So, it’s ABC time. Vote for A nybody B ut C arroll

  5. Bea, Brunjes cannot possibly be certain that whatever deal finally comes together will not come at some additional expense to the City. She simply cannot know that. Also, when she claims FPL still expects to close on the deal by the end of 2014, you have to wonder if the fine folks at FPL are being delusional, or dishonest. It is one or the other.

  6. Mark, It is both…they are delusional and disingenuous when they continue to tell the public that they foresee a closing in 2014. If you will recall, that is why I asked her the question about the year 2016. That is why this council needs to be replaced….Tracy Carroll now and Turner and Fletcher at the next election because they continue to gouge us all with high bills during the process and the conclusion if any occurs will not happen for years to come. Three more years at these artificially high electric bills are going to make us all crazy.
