With the Vero Beach City Council election just two weeks away, we are entering the proverbial window of time when political campaigns and propagandists predictably make last-minute accusations and attempt hatchet jobs on their opponents. Unfortunately, Vero Beach voters can expect to see mean-spirited and unsubstantiated charges leveled at some fine candidates.

Based on the sarcastic comments an island weekly reporter made in a “news analysis” published last week, don’t be surprised to see the “Island Enquirer” serve up a story or two between now and election day that is thin of facts and long on accusations and innuendo.
