If Post Cards Could Vote

In addition to three post cards Tracy Carroll mailed on behalf of her campaign, Florida Power & Light, through its contributions to Citizens for a Better Future, paid for three more mailers to aid Carroll re-election effort. FPL has contributed $28,000 to an electioneering communications organization working for Carroll’s re-election.

FPL also mailed its own “informational” post card and a letter from External Affairs Manager Amy Brunjes.  With postal carriers off today, Vero Beach voters will have a one-day respite from political mailers. FPL-funded advertising on Carroll’s behalf is expected to arrive in local mail boxes again tomorrow.

FPL’s Brunjes has also been making presentations on Carroll’s behalf, including to the Taxpayer’s Association, the Indian River Tea Party, and the Rotary Club, of which Carroll is a member.

Lynne Larkin, a former Vero Beach City Councilwoman, and an electioneering communications organizations formed by the Indian River Neighborhood Association mailed post cards seeking to counter FPL’s influence in the election.

If post cards could vote, and if corporate sponsorship were enough to shift the balance, Carroll would be a sure bet for re-election.  Two online polls, however, show Carroll trailing Richard Winger and Amelia Graves.  See Related Story

  1. The decision has all ready been made. Absentee ballots have been mailed in. That’s the way the machine operates around here. I’m keeping fingers crossed.

  2. The “favorite” so far of the carroll blizzard of cards is where she claims the lead on saving the lagoon because she’s taken a botany class in school. Dig deep!
