Just as Florida Power & Light and the city’s transactional attorneys are seeking cooperation from the Florida Municipal Power Agency in developing a plan for concluding the sale of Vero Electric, utility activist, Glenn Heran, and the five members of the Indian River County Commission have cooked up a $78,000 scheme to bring the FMPA down by lobbying members of the Florida Legislature.
Heran’s end-around lobbying will ultimately amount to nothing more than attempting to bring down a redwood tree with a weed wacker, for it will only serve to alienate the very agency from which the city most needs help. Whatever his credentials may be, it is obvious Heran is not a graduate of the Tufts University School of Diplomacy.

So is this why Fletcher and Turner want to send Turner up to Tallahassee to lobby about the sale? We are spending MORE tax dollars for them to do Heran and Mayfield’s bidding? Insane if we let this happen. Why do we have elected representatives in Tallahassee?
We are sending Heran because we do not have a real representive in Tallahassee. Mayfield must check with Bob Solari before she votes on anything. Her endorsement of Tracy Carroll is just one example of this. The $78,000 is a waste of taxpayer money. There is something “fishy” about this deal.
