Florence Belle (Flo) Clement, 96,”She was one of those happily created beings who pleased without effort, make friends everywhere and take life so gracefully and easily that less fortunate souls are tempted to believe that such are born under a lucky star.” – Louisa May Alcott Flo Clement, our lucky star, went home to be with God on November 8, 2013 but her light will shine brightly in the heavens for those of us who were blessed by her presence on earth. A native Floridian, Flo was born in Brooker, Florida in 1917. She grew up in Arcadia where she met Ray Clement, her husband of 69 years. They had three children: Larry, Doug and Constance who were raised in Miami. Upon retirement, Flo and Ray moved to their beloved summer home in Lake Placid and later relocated to Vero Beach. Flo was an amazing woman of faith, strength and generosity. She was a charter member of the Miami Shore Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and was frequently a soloist, as she had the soprano voice of an angel. Flo loved her Lord, her family and her many friends. Although she traveled the world with Ray in support of his business, Flo treasured her role as matriarch of the Clement family, hosting family gatherings at their Lake Placid cottage famed for its bass fishing and treating everyone to her renowned Southern cooking. She never met a stranger and everyone was greeted with a warm smile, a compliment and laughter. Flo Clement was a “fine woman” which was the highest compliment a Southern lady may enjoy. She was the embodiment of God’s grace and example to all of the meaning of unconditional love. All who were touched by her sunny spirit, devotion, and kindness will miss her deeply. Flo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray; her cherished son, Larry (Martha); and her two sisters and one brother, Estelle, Freddie and Lamar. She is survived by her adoring children, Doug (Anne) and Constance; four grandchildren, Laura Pittman (Matt), Ken Clement, Dale Clement and Carolyn Fedeli (Frank); and five great grandchildren. The family will forever be grateful for the loving care of Curtice and Andrea who were her devoted angles on earth and filled her last days with laughter and peace. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 11 a.m. at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL with Reverend Tracy Claytor, First Baptist Church, officiating. In recognition of the importance of the Hospice caregivers in Flo’s life, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to: VNA Hospice, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Fl. 32960 in memory of Flo Clement. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome. (11/18/13)
