Beginning Jan. 2, the editors and reporters of the monthly news magazine, Inside Vero, will now serve the community with a weekly newspaper, Inside Vero Extra.
“Extra,” as it will almost surely be known going forward, will offer timely reporting on the news of the greater Vero Beach community, including stories about local government, social and lifestyle news, arts and entertainment, sports and recreation, a calendar of events, real estate transactions, obituaries and more.
Accurate, timely and responsible reporting of local news is important, even vital, if a growing community is to foster and maintain a shared sense of purpose. There are a number of news sources covering either regional news, such as the Stuart-based Press Journal, or stories of specific and limited interest to barrier island residents, such as 32963. We believe the larger community of Vero Beach, the barrier island and the mainland together, needs and deserves a voice.
Initially, “Extra” will be home delivered to neighborhoods in the central beach, along the western shore of the Indian River Lagoon, in and around the Vero Beach Country Club, and in the downtown area, including McAnsh Park. Several thousand copies will also be available in stores, offices, restaurants and public building throughout the community.
