BogardusRosalia Ann Bogardus, 60, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Kindred Hospital The Palm Beaches. She was born on November 30, 1953 in Jamestown, NY and lived in Vero Beach since 2000, coming here from Colorado Springs, CO. Ms. Bogardus was an Assistant Manager at Chevron Convenient Store on State Route 60 in Vero Beach and she attended St. Helen Catholic Church. Survivors include her mother, Rose Bogardus of Vero Beach, FL; son, Steven Anderson of Vero Beach; two sisters, Suzanne Trask of West Palm Beach, FL and Mary Gore of Vero Beach; two brothers, Tim Bogardus of Crossville, TN and Tommy Bogardus of Rome, GA; several nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 P.M, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. A funeral Mass will be held 10:00 A.M, Friday, December 20, 2013 at Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Crestlawn Cemetery. PirragliaMario Pirraglia, 87, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away December 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born October 25, 1926 in Providence, RI and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 23 years, coming from Miami, FL. Mr. Pirraglia was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement in 1997, Mr. Pirraglia worked as a Teacher for the Miami Dade County Jail juvenile outreach program. He also coached girls’ softball and boys baseball for many years at Sunniland Park in Miami. Mr. Pirraglia was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence Pirraglia; daughter, Debra Pirraglia of Vero Beach; son, Kenneth (Holly) Pirraglia of Miami; grandchildren, Anthony, Jason, Brandon and Brian; great grandson, Konnor and great granddaughter, Lilly. He was predeceased by his sons, Michael and Steven Pirraglia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Peter A. Romano, 89, of Vero Beach, FL died on December 21, 2013 at Consulate Health Care. He was born in Lawrence, MA and lived in North Andover, MA before moving to Vero Beach in 1984.Mr. Romano served in the US Air Force and was a POW Germany during WWII.He was founder and treasurer of Able Electrical Contractors of Lawrence Inc. until his retirement in 1984.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rose Kiernan Romano; sister-in-law, Dorothy Romano; brother-in-law, Frank Kiernan and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother, Salvatore “Sully” Romano.A memorial mass will be held at a later date. ThorntonWilbur “Gene” Thornton, 78, of Vero Beach, FL passed away December 14, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1935 in Vero Beach to James Allen and Jennie Thornton.Gene’s first Love was to God, he was a man of devoted faith and the beloved husband of 57 years to Mildred E. Thornton, who predeceased him in 2010.He is survived by his brother, James L. Thornton; uncle, William Thornton; cousin, Elaine Greaser and sister-in-laws, Terrie Thornton, Mo Thornton, Norma Thornton and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne M. Thornton and Kenney A. Thornton.Gene leaves behind numerous friends and family members to mourn his passing.He was a good friend and beloved man too many. Those whose life he has touched will never forget him and his loving wife.Gene will rest with God in his loving embrace.
