Ronald E. Mitchell, 81,passed away at Grace Rehabilitation Center on January 8, 2014. Mitchell was a longtime Vero resident. He was a well known land developer and builder here in Vero Beach and Ann Arbor, MI. He was a United States Army Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart having served in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Erika, son Thomas (Mary), Brighton, MI, daughter Rhonda Couchman (Joseph), Whitmore Lake, MI, step daughters Robin Griffin (Todd), Clermont, FL, and Kathy Kalani (Karl), Pittsburgh, PA, his brother Jerry Mitchell, Jupiter, FL, four grandchildren, four step grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Joyce Wayco and twins Thomasine Swick and Josephine Hines. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
