Joseph F. Ippolito, 66, died January 9, 2014 at his home in Sebastian, FL. Mr. Ippolito was born in Brooklyn, New York and has lived in Sebastian for 20 years coming from Long Beach, NY. Survivors include his father, Frederick M. Ippolito of Vero Beach; sons, Fred Ippolito (Dana) of Massapequa, NY, Philip Ippolito (Janet) of Sebastian, FL, Joseph Ippolito (Kelli) of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael Ippolito (Cyrielle) of Paris, France; loving companion, Sandra K. Ruffino of Sebastian, FL; sister, Barbara Romagnuolo (Matthew) of Seaford, NY and 7 grandchildren. Mr. Ippolito was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Ippolito. Don Johnston (George Donald Johnston, Jr.), 86, of Vero Beach, Fl. passed away peacefully on January 3, 2014. He was born to the late Isabella and George D. Johnston, Sr., on March 9, 1927 in Elmira, NY. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Europe during WWII. Don had a B.A. in Journalism and Economics from Michigan State University; an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and attended Harvard Business School’s 61st Advanced Management Program. Don worked his entire career at the J. Walter Thompson Company, starting in 1951 as a trainee in the mailroom. His career involved management assignments in Colombia, Holland, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. He was President & CEO from 1974-1978, and Chairman & CEO from 1978-1987. He was a Board Director of Equitable Life Assurance Society and McGraw-Hill Inc., Chairman of the International Executive Service Corps, Trustee of The Johns Hopkins University, and Chairman of Johns Hopkins SAIS Advisory Board. Don was an active member of the Bent Pine Golf Club and the John’s Island Club. He was an accomplished musician, artist, pilot and tennis and golf player. Don is survived by his wife, Sarita, and his three sons; Don, Richard and Michael. Don is survived also by his nine grandchildren and his sister, Louise. The internment will be a private ceremony for immediate family members on January 10. A memorial service will be held in Vermont in August, 2014. Linda Pagan, 51, of Vero Beach, FL, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at VNA Hospice House. She was born February 14, 1962 in Philadelphia, PA and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 2 years; she previously resided in Malvern, PA for 25 years. Linda graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with bachelor degree in marine biology. She was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed her bible study group and working with the VBS programs. Mrs. Pagan was a member of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Malvern and also attended First Church of God in Vero Beach. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jose L. Pagan Jr.; daughters, Michelle (Keith) Hunt and Katherine Pagan both of Vero Beach; parents, Robert and Carolyn Nusbickel of Vero Beach; sister, Susan (Bill) Allen of Beaufort, SC; brother, Andrew (Kathy) Nusbickel of Malvern; brother-in-law, Eddie (Jane) Pagan; sister-in-law, Wanda (Les) Wattenberg; mother-in-law, Abeulita Sanchez and father-in-law, Jose L Pagan Sr. A memorial service will be held at her home church in Malvern, PA on Saturday January 25th at 11 AM. John Beierl Shults, 89, of Vero Beach died Sunday, December, 22, 2013 at his home. John was born August 9, 1924 in Buffalo, NY. His parents were Dr. Norbert C. Shults and Dorothy Beierl Shults. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Anne Coyle Shults. John was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo and a lifelong supporter of the school. John proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. He was a radio operator aboard LSM 264 and was at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Mr. Shults and his wife were members of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Survivors include a sister, Audry C. Sibble, many nieces and nephews, special friends Bob and Norma Jean Beierl, and his faithful companion, Gracie. Services will be held at a later date in Buffalo, NY.
