J. Scott Kelly opened Island Images Professional Photography Studio in Vero Beach in 2008.  But his business experience as a licensed, trained photographer exceeds 30 years.  Scott has seen the world of photography go through many changes over the last several decades.  His business has ebbed and flowed and Scott has rolled with the punches as time and technology changed photography, the economy rose and fell and he and his wife, Karen, mitigated the changes necessary to run a stable, successful business.

Graduating from Florida Institute of Technology, Scott opened his first studio in Palm Beach County in 1985.  As a native of Singer Island, he named his business Island Images.  Scott learned early in his career while working for someone else that a photographer doesn’t like to see credit for an image under someone else’s name.  Scott explains, “When I went into business, I wanted a name that gave the studio credit and the photographer credit as well.  Using your own name for the name of a photographic business can be tricky.  This is giving credit where it’s due.  I had other photographers shooting under me and felt they should get credit for their work.” MORE…
