CochranCorbet Cochran Sr., 87, went to live with the Lord Friday, January 17th, 2014. He was the third child born to Valentine Cochran and Gracie Allen on March 1st, 1927 in Buland, Kentucky. After his mother died in 1933 in Magoffin County Kentucky, Valentine married Gracie’s sister, Viola Allen, briefly moved to Michigan, then settling in Willard, Huron County, Ohio adding 10 additional half brothers and sisters between Valentine and Viola. Corbet Sr. graduated Willard High School in 1944, the first in his family to do so. He moved forward with his education at Ohio State University, but dropped out at the onset of World War II and enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1944-1946 in the Pacific Theater on the USS Vulcan, a submarine tender in the Philippines, the occupation of Japan and Shanghai China. He then transferred to the Airforce. Tours of duty included Travis AFB, Fairfield CA, Grifitts AFB Rome NY, Bordeaux Airbase Bourdeaux France, Madrid Spain, ACNW Squadron North Concord Vermont, Langley Field, Hampton Virginia, Vietnam 1962-1963 (where he volunteered in his spare time in the war torn orphanages) and Turner AFB Albany Georgia. Temporary tours included Thule Greenland, French Morocco, Libya, Ethiopia, Turkey, Crete, Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Azores Islands. He Honorably retired in December of 1967 at Forbes AFB Topeka Kansas and moved to Vero Beach Florida and resided there until his death. Service Awards are the Airforce Commendation, American Defense Award, Asiatic Pacific Award, Philippine Liberation Award, Philippine Independence Award, World War II Victory Award, Japanese Occupation Award, China Service Award, Airforce Longevity Award, Vietnam Service Award, Outstanding Airforce Unit Award and Good Conduct Award. He worked briefly at Piper Aircraft Corporation in Vero Beach, Florida and retired from Southern Bell after 20 years of service as a switchman in the main office. He was an Official Kentucky Colonel bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky. He also was the secretary for the Vero Beach Coin Club and the USS Vulcan reunion committee. He was a Life Member of VFW and served as an Honor-Guard in the VFW as a Cootie in which he participated in countless Veterans funerals. He also was a volunteer for Red Cross and volunteered for the Indian River County Veterans Service Office for total of 5 years shuttling Veterans to the VA Hospital in West Palm BeachHe was a Member of the First United Methodist Church since 1960 and served in the service of the ministry of the Pairs and Spares Sunday school class and a regular attendee of the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast “CC” as he was known, was a regular at his favorite donut shop and had many friends there. He was also a Throat Cancer SurvivorHe met Emily Ellen Walker-Hassell at a marriage between their best friends and married her December 27th, 1954, later relating that “She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen”, and had three children: Corbet Cochran Jr, of Beaufort, South Carolina, Richard Valentine Cochran and wife Mona Louise of Savannah, Georgia and Priscilla Colleen Searles and husband Gordon Paul, of Vero Beach, Florida. He had grandchildren Stoffer Valentine Cochran, Monica Johnson, Marci Mason, Nicole Elizabeth Melton, Heather Roxanne Piatt, and Matthew Glenn Piatt and great-grandchildren Katie Elizabeth Melton, Abigail Renae Melton, Christopher Aaron McGee, Ariel Renee Jaylynn Piatt, Josiah Tucker Aaron Piatt, and Ayden F. and Griffen Bennett Johnson, all who survives him.
He is also survived by four of his thirteen siblings: his sister, Annalee Chance, of Winchester Virginia; brothers Donald Ray Cochran of Cottonwood, Arizona; Larry Daniel Cochran of Savannah, Georgia; and James David Cochran of Shelby, Ohio. Corbet Cochran Sr. was an Honorable Gentleman, an American Hero, and was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed. A Life Celebration Service for “CC” will begin at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach. AmoryAMORY, Jean Douglas Moore, age 92, died peacefully in Vero Beach, FL, on January 17th. She was born May 27, 1921 in Bronxville, New York.  Daughter of Bertha Stone Moore and Thomas Channing Moore, she attended Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT. Her first marriage, to Francis B. Trudeau in 1942, ended in divorce in 1959. She later married Harcourt Amory, Jr., on September 15, 1960. He pre-deceased her in 2006.  Jean was the co-owner of an antique shop in New York City, and another in Bedford, NY. She was on the Board of the Blair House Restoration during the Kennedy Administration.  She also served on the Board of the Hospital for Special Surgery for over 25 years, and was a member of the City Mission Benefit Board.  A devoted mother, Jean is survived by her daughter Jeanne Trudeau Fenn and her husband, Henry Fenn, her son Garry Trudeau and his wife, Jane Pauley Trudeau, her daughter Michelle Trudeau and her husband, Steven Potkin, and her stepdaughter Dita Amory Nickson and her husband, Graham Nickson. She is also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will greatly miss their beloved Baba.  A service in her memory will be held at St. Mark’s Church in Vero Beach at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 25th, with reception to follow at the Oak Harbor clubhouse.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or St. Mark’s Church, P.O. SchultzRobert John Schultz, 86, died January 19, 2014 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida.  He was born in Detroit, Michigan and lived in Vero Beach for 11 years coming from Sterling Hights, Michigan.  He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.  Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Frances Schultz of Vero Beach, sons Kurt Schultz (Lori) of Clarkston, Michigan, Kraig Schultz of Boca Raton, Florida, grandsons Eric,Ian,Owen and Ryan Schultz, sisters Eileen McIntry and Alice Murray,  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Chrildrens Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 SERVICES: A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. www.strunkfuneralhome.com. Jean M. Sirianni, 87, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully in Vero Beach, FL on January 19. Jean was born on March 21, 1926 in Rice Lake, WI to A. A. Bergeron and Luella (Cain) Bergeron. She attended St. Scholastica’s School in Duluth, MN and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1944. Jean went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from St. Catherine’s University in St Paul, MN. Jean married her high school sweetheart, Fred A. Sirianni, in 1949 in Rice Lake, WI. They moved to Eau Claire, WI in 1959 where they raised their twelve children. Jean was a strong and loving advocate for her children’s development in all areas; academically, artistically, socially, and spiritually. She advised and counseled many friends throughout her years in Eau Claire, Eagle River, and Vero Beach. Jean was adored by many and admired for her courage, tenacity, dedication to family and friends, cooking ability, love of animals and nature, and her sense of humor. (After all, she had 12 kids!) Jean was preceded in death by her parents and three close aunts; Lucille Cain, Marie Wahl, and Ida Johnson.  She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Fred, and their children: Steve (Kitty) Sirianni of Seatle, Tony Sirianni of West Palm Beach, FL, Janet (Steve) Driever of Eau Claire, Mary Sirianni of Robbinsdale, MN, Patty Sirianni of Minneapolis, Jim (Melissa) Sirianni of Madison, John (Julie) Sirianni of Eau Claire, Kate (Yutaka Ishimi) Sirianni of Boynton Beach, FL, Carey (Al Epp) Sirianni of Minneapolis, David Sirianni of St. Paul, Fred (Jane) Sirianni of Marysville, WA, and Sue (Ken) Lessley of Minneapolis. She is also survived by 23 grand-children, four great-grandchildren, and many special dogs. Though a member of St. John of the Holy Cross parish in Vero Beach, a funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Eau Claire, WI on February 8. TaylorArzie “Deanie” Dean Taylor, 98, formally of Sebastian, Florida, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at her home in Ft. Pierce, FL. She was born September 27, 1915 in Gilbert Hollow, SC and had been a long time resident of Sebastian, FL. Deanie was one of the founding members of Sebastian United Methodist Church, over 80 years ago. She was known for her dedication to her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by her children, Betty A Walther and Joel D. Taylor, Sr.; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Joel D. Taylor, Sr. A memorial service will be held 10 am, Monday, January 27, 2014 at Sebastian United Methodist Church with Pastor William M. Finnin, Jr. officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Sebastian Cemetery at a later time.
