MEDIA RELEASE
Save the Chimps will host its fifth semi-annual Member Day Event on January 26, 2014. Members from across the country have an opportunity to tour the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary to catch a glimpse of nearly 300 chimpanzee residents.
Save the Chimps is closed to the public but hosts two Member Day events per year offering people the opportunity to tour the 150-acre sanctuary.
“We created ‘Member Day’ as a way to connect the people who are dedicated to supporting our mission and give them an opportunity to witness first-hand how their generosity benefits our chimpanzee residents. The community has been very supportive of our work and each event since its launch in 2012 has been a success.” said Save the Chimps Director of Communications Triana Romero.
Member Day will be open to all current 2014 members or those who become members at the $50 Enthusiast level. Guided tours of the sanctuary begin at scheduled times between 11:00 AM & 3:00 PM, however, reservations are required in advance to secure a time slot. Space is limited. Both walking and trolley tours are available.
The tour covers 1.25 miles of the expansive 150-acre sanctuary in Fort Pierce, Florida. Members will observe the chimpanzees as they roam the islands of grass, palm trees, hills, and climbing structures that allow the chimps to run and play, visit with friends or find a quiet corner to relax, bask in the sun or curl up in the shade.
If you are not yet a member of Save the Chimps, you still have an opportunity to join and register for this rare glimpse of sanctuary life. Visit savethechimps.org/memberday2014 to become a member and reserve a tour time. Current 2014 members can call 772-429-2225 to reserve a slot.
