The South Korean professional baseball franchise, SK Wyverns, training at Historic Dodgertown for the last few weeks, will conduct intrasquad games on Thursday and Friday night. Games will begin at approximately 6:00pm and will be open to the public.
The SK Wyverns have reached the Korean Championship Series every year since 2007, having won the Championship in 2007, 2008 and 2010. The 2014 roster includes three Americans with Major League Baseball experience. Most notable is 9-year Major League slugger, Luke Scott, having played with the Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays. Scott is a native of DeLeon Springs, Florida and began his collegiate career at Indian River Community College.
American born pitchers include Jo-Jo Reyes and Ross Wolf, both slated to be starters for the Wyvern squad. Reyes has tallied over 334 big league innings with the Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles. Wolf has served as a long reliever in the majors with the Florida Marlins, Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers.
The SK Wyverns have trained at Historic Dodgertown each offseason since 2011. Players and coaches utilize the on-site accommodations, clubhouse, training and fitness areas along with practice fields and Holman Stadium.
