With a quick lube joint on nearly every intersection, it’s so easy to simply pull in to the first place you pass when it comes time for an oil change. Unfortunately, with so many different options, it is difficult to know which shop to entrust with your car. Any typical driver, especially those of us with limited knowledge of mechanics, is essentially at the mercy of whomever they have chosen to service their vehicle. Since nobody likes poor service or getting ripped off, choosing a reputable place to get an oil change or to buy tires is vital for safety and peace of mind.

Keith’s Oil Can has been providing automotive service that customers can trust since it was opened by founder Keith Hedin more than twenty five years ago. After a few successful years in Vero Beach’s hyper competitive small business market, Keith’s Oil Can expanded to include a second location in town in order to accommodate their growing customer base.

These days, Keith and his wife Jen run their two shops, one on Old Dixie Highway and the other on State Road 60, with all the integrity and personal service that earned them so many loyal customers- not to mention the The Press Journal’s #1 Oil Change twelve years in a row!

In addition to their dependable quick lube service, Keith’s also offers a complete selection of name brand tires at competitive prices. Whether you know exactly what you need for your car, or are in desperate need of some guidance, the knowledgeable staff at Keith’s Oil Can is happy to offer help selecting and maintaining the best kind of tires for your needs. With every service performed at Keith’s, the car gets a free tune up top to bottom, from checking all your filters, fluids and oil to putting air in your tires and vacuuming out the front of your car.

Even with both busy shop locations demanding his constant attention, Keith still managed to find time to branch out his business. He decided to include storage unit rental at one of his locations, which has turned out to be a booming side business for Keith’s Oil Can and a convenience many customers can utilize.

The storage units were built behind Keith’s State Road 60 location in 1990, and are available in various sizes ranging from 5×5 to 10×20. Having a wide selection of storage options for customers to choose from means that Keith’s Oil Can is able to provide more people with the perfect amount of space to store the stuff they want to keep but have no room for.

Another convenient aspect of Keith’s Oil Can is their fleet service, which provides automotive maintenance to local businesses with more than one work vehicle at a discounted rate. Especially when working with these commercial companies, which range from electricians to plumbers and countless more, Keith’s keeps detailed records of what services are performed on what car and when they are done to make the whole process easier on the client.

When the Hedins aren’t busy at one of their shops managing their business, they love having fun with their three kids Kalob, Karlee and Karson. However this tight knit family prefers their fun a little more fast-paced than the average, and spend their free time on the race track instead of the couch. Keith has been racing dirt bikes, ATVs, stock cars and pretty much anything with wheels since his childhood, so he and wife Jennifer began getting their kids involved with racing as toddlers.

As the kids grew up, Keith and Jen taught their children about safety and how to race competitively, which eventually led to the family racing as Team Hedin with Florida Trail Riders. Team Hedin travels all around the state racing trails against other young competitors and have all won awards for their racing abilities. The Hedins own over a dozen different four wheelers and two wheelers which he keeps at home so he and his family can ride and spend time together, which can be a challenge for any parent, especially while running a small business at the same time.

Through decades of experience and trustworthy service to the Vero Beach community, Keith and his wife have built Keith’s Oil Can into a successful and multifaceted business. While competing with national franchises like Wal Mart and the countless small quick lube shops that have come and gone over the years, Keith’s Oil Can has not only survived, but thrived. In turn, this small but lucrative business has nurtured the Hedin family and become a local success story.
