Media Release: February 14, 2014
Last November, Deputies responded to a home in the 400 block of 12th street in Vero Beach, Florida, to check the welfare of Michael Gray (51), who had not been heard from for several days. Deputies encountered Timothy Gochenour (41), his roommate, who began acting suspiciously. While checking the home, deputies discovered the body of Gray covered with blankets.
Detectives interviewed Gochenour and learned that he put a large quantity of prescription medications into a milkshake with the intention of killing Gray. Gochenour was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon that night. Later, charges of second degree murder were added based on the toxicology results of Gray.
Today, Timothy Gochenour plead guilty to second degree murder. Gochenour gave a short statement before the Honorable Judge Robert Pegg sentenced him to life in prison. Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is proud of the work of our deputies, detectives and crime scene unit in this case. Indian River County is safer today with Gochenour safely behind bars for the rest of his life.”
A video of the sentencing is available on our Facebook and YouTube account. You are free to download and edit this video for your needs, as we know many of you did not make it to the courtroom today.
