LESTER EMANUEL BASS, 62, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his home.

Lester was born in Madison, Florida and moved to Indian River County 53 years ago from his place of birth.

He attended Vero Beach High School and had worked as a welder at Russell Concrete in Vero Beach for 32 years.

Lester loved his family, both close and extended and would entertain them with his fishing stories, cooking skins and guitar playing.  His enjoyment of car racing continued long after he stopped driving mini-stock cars.

Survivors include his children Steve Bass of Palm Bay,  Kristal L. Hicks of Sebastian, Kellie Renee McClarty of Orlando and Travis Hamilton Bass of Vero Beach; siblings Gene Bass of Vero Beach, Earl Bass of Vero Beach, Mary Ellis of Okeechobee, Letha Rhodes of Vero Beach, Merle Hedges of Vero Beach, Roy Cleveland Bass of Vero Beach and Jimmy Webb of Sebastian; and grandchildrenJosh, Cody, Taylor, Danielle, Ayden and Mark Benjamin.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents George and Nellie Mae Colvin Bass, and a sister Dorothy Bass Walker.

The family will receive friends 4-7 PM, Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.  A Life Celebration Service for Lester will begin at 2 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Winter Beach Cemetery.  Following the interment a reception will take place at the home of Roy Bass.

LINDA KAY CROFT (MARTIN) was born November 15, 1943 and born again into heaven on February 12, 2014 after diabetes finally dealt it’s last blow.

She is survived by Kenneth Croft who was her husband and best friend for 29 years; her children Karyn Todd (husband Tariq Khalid) and Rocky Todd (wife Catherine); her step children Tiffany Tannous, Kenneth James Croft, and Shannon Croft; and her grandchildren Ruby, Dexter, Keagen, Cassie, Gwen, Emily, Trenton, and Travis.

Linda was a native of Detroit, Michigan and proud graduate of Cass Tech High School in 1961. Her Motown roots filled her entire life with song. She loved singing and dancing. She was a home economics major and spent her entire life focusing on the happiness and well being of her family.

Linda moved to Sebastian, Florida in 2004 to embrace the tropical climates, sunrises over the ocean, and walks on the boardwalk. Her dog Max comforted her daily and they both cherished visits from the grand-dog’s Romeo and Roxxy.

She has joined the choir of Angel’s to sing songs of God’s amazing grace forever with her parents Dexter and Marion Martin and her brother Dan.  http://www.strunkfuneralhome.com (2/16/14)

EDWARD ANTHONY NICOLACE, SR. 90, died February 12, at his residence in Vero Beach. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island and was a seasonal resident of Vero Beach for many years before moving to Vero full time in 1978, coming from Warwick, Rhode Island.

A gifted trumpet player, he was a professional musician since the age of 15 and a 75-year member of the Providence Federation of Musicians. He was a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Musicians.

A carpenter by trade he owned his own carpentry business in Warwick, R.I. and applied these skills while with the Economic Opportunities Council of Indian River County prior to his retirement.

He was married to Beatrice for 67 years and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid New York Yankees fan who passed on his love of the pinstripes to his son, Ed Jr., and his beloved grandchildren, Cassie and Edward. He worked tirelessly teaching his son the game of baseball and lived to watch his grandson play. He was a devoted husband, father and loving grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Beatrice Nicolace of Vero Beach, son Edward Nicolace, Jr., daughter-in-law Maureen Jahns Nicolace, granddaughter Cassandra and grandson Edward, III, all of Vero Beach, and brother, Alfred Nicolace of Warwick, R.I.

He was preceded in death by his father Carlo Nicolace, mother Rose, and brothers Alfonse, John, Ernest and Orazio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 34th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960, who provided such compassionate and skilled care during his final months.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m., at Strunk Funeral Home. http://www.strunkfuneralhome.com (2/16/14)
