A bright, sunny morning was ideal to launch the “Spring into Fitness” Open House event at Leisure Square, 3706 16th Street in Vero Beach. The event, beginning with a Lion’s Club pancake breakfast, was presented by the City of Vero Beach Recreation Department to create awareness of the department’s programs and also conduct a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a Community Poolside Pavilion.
Proceeds from the event will help defray costs associated with building the pavilion. Local radio personality, Hamp Elliott, was emcee for the groundbreaking ceremony and introduced event coordinator, Bev Paris of Paris Productions. City officials on hand for the ceremony included Mayor Richard Winger, Vice Mayor Jay Kramer, City Councilwoman Pilar Turner, City Manager Jim O’Connor and Recreation Department Director, Rob Slezak.
