JOHN PATRICK BROSNAN, 88, passed away in Vero Beach, FL on Sunday, March 9, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Oakland, CA to Denis and Margaret Brosnan and lived there for 70 years before moving to Vero Beach in 1996. He then moved to Rio Vista, CA in 2003, returning to Vero Beach five years ago. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corp and served with the 15th Air Force in Southern Italy where he flew 35 missions on a B-24 Liberator. He had his General Contractor’s License in California for over 50 years and was a manager for Airco in California (BOC) for 45 years prior to his retirement. He was an American Welding Society member and former Past Chairman of the San Francisco Section. Former Past Chairman of the Emeryville, CA Planning Committee. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and VFW Post #3918 in Vero Beach where he served on the Honor’s Team. John was an avid boater and 49ers fan who often watched Monday night football with his sons-in-law while living in CA. He was an expert craftsman with projects ranging from furniture, docks, restaurants to homes.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years Arlene, daughters Joan Kammerer, Nancy Brosnan (Alan) Cohen, Patricia (Mark) Haggen and Mimi Brosnan and grandchildren Johanna Kammerer, Denis Cohen, Andrew Haggen and Rachael Haggen all of California. Also, his beloved dogs Rudy and Kerry. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 500 Iris Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32963.  John will be transferred to the Grant Miller – John Cox Mortuary in Oakland and Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at 10:00am Monday, March 17, 2014. SAMUEL M. NOYES, 77, of Vero Beach, Florida, died March 9, 2014 at his home.He was born August 23, 1936 in Wheeling, WV and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 9 years, coming from Cleveland, OH. Mr. Noyes was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he worked 30 years for Lufthansa Airlines. He was of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Noyes is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edwina M. Noyes; son, Brad Noyes; daughters, Catherine Rodstein and Elizabeth (Eric) Peterson; brother, Richard Noyes and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Brad Noyes. Family will receive friends 5-7pm, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, followed by a prayer service at 7pm. van armanMARSHA PEARSAUL VAN ARMAN, 61, of Vero Beach died Monday March 10, 2014 at her home after a battle with cancer. Marsha was born in Ohio and grew up in California and Cocoa Beach before moving to Vero Beach in 1975 to work for the School District of Indian River County. Marsha was a graduate of the University of South Florida. Marsha was a classroom teacher for 21 years. In 1999 she was recognized as the Indian River County District Teacher of the Year. The last 11 years of her career were spent guiding new teachers and providing professional development for educators throughout the county. She retired in 2011. After her retirement, Marsha worked as an Educational Consultant for The Learning Alliance. During her 39 years as a resident of Vero Beach, Marsha served her community. She was a charter member of the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, and served as a Sunday school teacher and youth advisor at Community Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Van Arman; sons and daughters-in-law Bryan and Kerry Pearsaul; David and Samantha Pearsaul; and daughter and son-in-law Erin and Brandon Wilhelmy. Other survivors include her brothers and their wives; Jeff and Cindy Pearce; and Mike and Daphne Pearce. Marsha was preceded in death by her father James Pearce and her mother Betty Peake.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marsha Pearsaul Van Arman Education Scholarship through the Indian River state College Foundation. Contributions can be sent to the IRSC Foundation, 3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.  SERVICES: A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Christ by The Sea, United Methodist Church, 3755 Hwy.
