Reader Comment: Wilson has turned City Council meetings into a comedy show

Dressed in a white tuxedo, Charlie Wilson, went before the City Council promoting his new "chamber of commerce."

Giving respect to the three-minute rule for public comment, Wilson should be given three minutes to make his single comment for the entire evening. If that is a special interpretation of the rule, make it so in payment for his continued abuse, excess, personal attacks and total disrespect for the truth. He has destroyed the proper process for a City Council meeting and made it the Charlie Wilson Comedy Show.

When he has finished his comment, he should be seated immediately. In no way is it proper that he be allowed to hover at the podium for major portions of the meeting. Those of us who are tired of looking at him (much less listenting) deserve a break … as does the Mayor, Councilmen and Councilwomen… – Vic DeMattia

  1. I’ll second that motion. Everyone treated equally – no matter if they do feel they are more important than anyone else. Fairness for all.

  2. I don’t think that it is appropriate for Charlie Wilson to continue to be allowed to be an exception to the rule that the person speaking at the podium provide their address. The COVB meetings should be restricted to allow public comment only to those who are actual residents in the COVB.
