JohnsonMARY YOUNG JOHNSON, 101, of Vero Beach, FL died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at her home. She was born Mary Pope Taylor, in Atlantic City, NJ January 30, 1913 to Samuel and Martha Taylor. Mary grew up in Haddenfield, NJ and attended and graduated from Beaver College in Jenkinstown, PA. Mary and her parents moved to Vero Beach in 1934, where she’s loved every minute of living here. Her father owned a construction company and her mother was the first woman to be elected to the City Council. Mary married James “Jim” Winston Young and they spent much of their married life traveling throughout the US and Europe. Sadly, Jim passed away after a marriage of 55 years. In 1997, Mary married her long time friend, Sidney Johnson who later predeceased her.

Mary was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach and served as the organist for Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero for 30 years. She’s enjoyed golfing during her 72 year membership at Vero Beach Country Club, and was an avid bridge player.

Survivors include son James W. Young, Jr. (Sonia) of Vero Beach, daughter Martha “Molly” Gray (John) of Vero Beach, grandchildren Vickie Williams, J. Patrick Young, A. Scott Young, J. Michael Gray and Gretchen Nelson, and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by siblings William G. Taylor, Louise E. Taylor and Martha Ray Taylor.

Mary had a wonderful life, many good friends, a loving, appreciative family and she made great cookies! A funeral celebrating Mary’s life will begin at 2 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue, in Vero Beach. PATRICIA A. PETZOLD, 79, of Vero Beach, Florida, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at her residence. She was born April 3, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 9 years coming from Bucks County, PA. Patricia was active in the Elks Lodge in Vero Beach.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bud Petzold of Vero Beach; 1 daughter, 3 step-daughters, sister, Betty Ann Shaw of Pennsylvania and 6 grandchildren. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. http://www.lowtherfuneralhome.com/ (4/30/14)

 

SchultzJEAN CEBELIUS SCHULTZ, 82, died April 27, 2014 at her residence in Micco. She was born in Hartford, CT and lived in Micco, Florida coming from Pompano Beach, FL in 1982. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, #1767, Sebastian, FL
and loved her cruises.

Survivors include son Allen E. Schultz of Micco, daughters Paula Bright of Sebastian and Diane Helms of Micco, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Allen E. Schultz in April of 2013.

MARGARET “PEGGY” HOUGH WHITE, 92, of Vero Beach, FL passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at her home. Peggy was born in Philadelphia, PA and had moved to Vero Beach in 1975 from Radnor, PA. She had briefly resided in Vero during WWII while her first husband was training at NCAS Vero Beach.
She was a member of St. David’s Golf Club in St. David’s, PA and The Moorings Golf Club and Rio Mar Bay Golf Club in Vero Beach. Peggy was also a member and supporter of The Humane Society and the World Wildlife Fund. Golf, tennis and bridge were activities she enjoyed, but her family was always at the forefront.

Survivors include her son Samuel K. White, III of Chicago, IL, daughter Dr. Dana Lynne Neefe nee Iverson of Malvern, PA, grandchildren Heather Neefe Aton, Lauren Aimée Neefe, Samuel K. White, IV, Jacob Larsen White, and great-grandchildren Hudson Knox Aton and Thatcher Hough Aton. She was preceded in death by her first husband Major Daniel Iverson, USMCR and her second husband of 55 years Samuel K. White, Jr., who had practiced law in Philadelphia, and her sister Dorothy Waterman.
