Ray Carpenter was recently honored as the 2014 Faculty Member of the Year at Indian River State College. An Associate Professor of Business, he teaches courses in business management and accounting. The Vero Beach resident also coordinates capstone projects which engage IRSC seniors in a wide array of projects with local businesses. Carpenter was active in planning for the College’s flawless reaccreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and a related project, Mathematics: The Root of Success, designed to improve student achievement in math.
“Ray Carpenter is tireless in giving back to the College and his students. He seeks the best learning opportunities for our students and links learning to real-world business practices, challenging himself to continually improve business education,” said Dr. Edwin R. Massey, IRSC President.
Before joining IRSC, Carpenter worked in accounting and financial management for diverse companies in healthcare, banking and the utility industry. He belongs to the Honor Societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma. He was previously awarded the Marilyn C. Link Endowed Teaching Chair in Financial Management from the IRSC Foundation. Carpenter received his B.S. in Accounting from the State University of New York and MBA from Florida Atlantic University.
