Regional tournament finals continue Friday, May 2, around the state to determine which schools will advance to the Finals at the Historic Dodgertown softball complex. The four-day event will divide the eight classes of teams in half, with schools competing in semi-final rounds, followed by Championships the next day.

Beginning Wednesday, May 7, the 2A, 4A, 6A and 8A classes will begin play at Historic Dodgertown starting at 10:35 a.m., with games being played on Fields 9 & 10 throughout the day. The Championships for these four classifications will take place Thursday, May 8, beginning at 11:05 a.m. All Championship games will take place on Field 8, where additional bleachers have been brought in for larger crowds.

The 1A, 3A, 5A and 7A classes will take to the field Friday, May 9, for their semi-final games, before advancing to Saturday’s Championship round. All games will follow the same starting time schedule as Wednesday and Thursday.

Brackets with participating teams will be released following Regional tournament finals this weekend.

Proudly hosted by the Treasure Coast Sports Commission (TCSC), Indian River County, Sebastian River High School and Historic Dodgertown, this marks the second consecutive year the FHSAA Softball State Finals will take place in Vero Beach.

“The Treasure Coast Sports Commission is excited to be hosting the 2014 FHSAA Softball Finals,” shared Rich Nalbandian, Assistant Executive Director of TCSC. “32 of the best teams in the state in their respective classifications, along with their families, will be coming to Indian River County to an experience of a lifetime. It has truly been a team effort, with amazing contributions from Indian River County, Historic Dodgertown, Sebastian River High School, along with several Athletic Directors from the Treasure Coast, without which none of this would even be possible.

“We are in the second year of a three-year agreement and hoping for several more years with FHSAA. Our team is looking forward to working with outstanding professionals from FHSAA, such as Craig Damon and Dr. Peggy Jones. Our ultimate goal is to highlight our community as a premier sports paradise.”

Admission for the event is $9 per session, while parking is $8 for cars and $25 for buses. All Championship games will be broadcast by Bright House Sports Network and shown in their service markets. Food and beverage concessions will be available throughout the event.
