NEWS RELEASE
Friday night, deputies with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that wanted Brevard County bank robber Dennis Foster was staying at the Sand Drift Motel in the northern part of the county. At approximately 9:30 P.M., Deputies Christian Mathisen and Ryan Holly began to watch the motel room they believed Foster was staying in. After more than thirty minutes of patient observation with no movement, Deputy Holly saw Foster walk towards the front of the room. Other deputies were called to the scene to assist in apprehending this dangerous individual. A key to the room was obtained but deputies struggled to make entry through the front door of the hotel room.
Foster attempted to flee out the back window but was greeted by Deputies Mathisen and Klassen who quickly apprehended him. Foster was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where is currently being held on $250,000.00 bond. Foster was booked on the charges of felony armed robbery with a deadly weapon and grand theft which stemmed from a bank robbery in South Brevard County on May 2.
Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “We are proud of the work of our patrol deputies who put their lives on the line with dangerous individuals every day and night. Last night, they were able to safely apprehend Mr. Foster who robbed a bank in Brevard County. Criminal should take note that Indian River County is not the place to flee from other jurisdictions. We will catch you and we will take you to jail.”

This is the kind of job we’ve come to expect from our Sheriff and his terrific team. Great work, IRC lawmen!!
