The John’s Island Community Service League recently awarded a $35,000 grant to fund the utility expenses of The Source. The Source is a Christian Outreach Ministry serving the poor and homeless in Indian River County.
“Though our community is showing some signs of recovery, many of our Indian River County neighbors are still facing crisis. Jobs are still hard to come by and living expenses remain difficult to meet. At The Source our numbers are up; we are seeing more poor and homeless families and individuals than we saw last year. We are very thankful and extremely fortunate to have The John’s Island Community Service League as our partner in this very necessary service we provide to so many in our community.” said Dennis Bartholomew, The Source Executive Director.
According to John’s Island Community Service League’s Janet Tily, Captain of the grant committee homeless category, “The Source is a vital organization in this community, offering unique services to those less fortunate. We are most grateful that we have the funds to contribute toward their utility expenses.”
The John’s Island Community Service League is a non-profit organization primarily involved in raising funds for distribution to charitable agencies in Indian River County concerned with health, education, human services, and issues that affect women, children and families in need.
The Source is the only drop-in outreach ministry in Indian River County that serves as a cold weather shelter, opens six days a week, provides hot meals, emergency food boxes, clothing, basic hygiene items, showers and laundering facilities, mail and phone services, job readiness programs, cooperative community agency referrals, and instills a restorative hope in the saving faith of Jesus Christ.
They are located at 1015 Commerce Ave, Vero Beach, FL. Learn more by visiting http://www.IAmTheSource.org.
