At 5:59 A.M, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a shooting in the 3800 block of 44th Place.

Detectives, crime scene personnel, and deputies are still on scene, where they continue to investigate this case. 44th Place between 38th Avenue and 39th Avenue remains a closed crime scene with limited foot traffic on 38th Avenue between 43rd Place and 45th Street. Please avoid this area if possible.

Detectives have identified the deceased as Dominique Dawson (27) of Gifford, Florida. The Medical Examiner is on scene working with detectives to determine a cause of death.
