Inside Vero is here for you

Editor’s Note: Mark Schumann and his wife, Cheri, will soon be moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Mark will continue to serve as Inside Vero’s editor and publisher. Though he will do much of his work via the Internet, Mark and Cheri will take advantage of a flexible schedule to return to Vero Beach regularly to visit family, attend to business interest, conduct interviews and meet with advertisers.

A little over a year ago, we founded Inside Vero to serve the Vero Beach community with local news, analysis and commentary.  Our objective has been to engage readers in thoughtful discourse about issues affecting the qualify of life in Vero Beach and Indian River County.

As we begin a second year of publication, we affirm our commitment to offer balanced reporting on the important local issues of the day. Inside Vero will continue to provide this service and fulfill this mission, both in print and online at Insidevero.com.

If we have a bias, it is our conviction that, though a river may run through us, it need not divide us.  Vero Beach always has been and, we believe, always will be one community. Thus, Inside Vero’s personality profiles, stories of interesting and industrious business leaders and regular reports on the selfless work of many service organizations, as well as our coverage of the arts, are all intended to celebrate the vibrant and positive energy that sustains this community and gives it its unique character.

In explaining why his company, Berkshire Hathaway, invested in 28 community newspapers in the past three years, Warren Buffed said, “In cities and towns where there is a strong sense of community, there is no more important institution than the local paper.”

“Newspapers continue to reign supreme in the delivery of local news…there is no substitute for the local newspaper that is doing its job,” says Buffett.

Everyone on the Inside Vero editorial and production team, Kelly Coleman, Marsha Damerow, Janie Gould, Thomas Hardy, Stephanie Herzog and Ed Taylor join us in committing to seek new ways to serve you. Inside Vero is here for you.

Thank you for your  continued readership and support.
