NEWS RELEASE
Three times in the last week, deputies have given CPR in three separate incidents. In the evening hours of May 24th, Deputy Daniel Rosario responded to a residence where a fifty-nine year old male had collapsed in the bathroom. Deputy Rosario began CPR on the man until EMS arrived and transported him to the hospital.
On May 26th, a fifty-seven year old male collapsed and was given CPR by his roommate until Corporal Richard Henson arrived on scene. Corporal Henson continued CPR until EMS arrived and transported the man to the hospital. In both of those incidents, the men survived for a limited time before passing away at the hospital.
Last night, Corporal Fletcher McClellan responded to a medical call where a female patient was unconscious and unresponsive. Corporal McClellan immediately began CPR and today the woman is alive. According to paramedics on scene, Corporal McClellan did an outstanding job resuscitating the patient.
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “Our men and women put their uniforms on each working day not knowing what they will be called upon to do. Deputy Rosario and Corporals Henson and McClellan are to be commended for their life saving skills. This has been a busy week for our agency, but the professionalism, dedication, and compassion that our employees have shown is impressive.”

Outstanding! They certainly are living up to expectations and BEYOND! Just hope they continue to be very careful “out there”.
