Search warrant yields felon with loaded .357 magnum and more

BUST 6-5-14In the evening hours of June 4, 2014, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Criminal Enforcement (M.A.C.E.) Unit concluded a three month long narcotics investigation by executing a search warrant in the 600 block of 3rd Street Southwest. Detectives located and seized a loaded .357 magnum handgun, nearly three hundred grams of marijuana, $1,504.00 in drug money, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia including digital scales and packaging materials.

Leon McCloud Jr. (32) of Vero Beach was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of more than twenty grams of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation.

Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “The MACE unit will continue to identify and arrest those who feel they are above the law. We strongly encourage upstanding citizens to contact my office or Crime Stoppers if they have a tip for us regarding illegal activity.” Tips to Crime Stoppers can be anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
