Attorney Schef Wright told the City Council Tuesday that Florida Power & Light officials told him they “are not ready to throw in the towel.”
With Vero Beach shackled to a contract that will not expire until December 31, 2016, FPL officials seem content to leave the city and its 34,000 rate payers hanging.

I repeat myself but why can’t the City accept the fact that this cannot be done, quit spending any money on this goat-roping, srart trying to do something to lower electric rates and let FPLgo on its merry way and do what they want? They will anyway. Let’s all get back to enjoying life in Vero Beach. Seems simple to me.
FPL is exactly where they want to be. They sit back and let every one fight with FMPA, try to topple FMPA and FPL sits back with a smile and says we just want to be good partners with the City. Remember folks, FPL does this at no expense on their part. They are sitting pretty right now. They have us shackled, they have the County Commission and the Shores fighting their battle and they make every one think the elected officials in Vero are not doing everything they can to close a dead end deal. And, remember all of this is being done knowing that FMPA will not talk to FPL….
Our idiot 3-Council persons sell-at-any-cost (Carroll, Turner, Fletcher) signed a binding contract (sort of like) that holds us at bay until 2016….and I agree with Jim – turn our backs to the FPL people and get to work making our City work for US again, AND for the county customers (who’ve been shafted by the Co. Commissioners).
