In his latest “Utility Update” newsletter, utility activist and pro-sale fundamentalist Dr. Stephen Faherty wrote, “Is it worth it for the City to keep its WSI system to transfer about $1 M per year to its budget? Particularly since the complacent City WSI users are still paying the higher City WSI rates? I cannot understand why they are not demanding County rates!?”

Faherty is wrong on so many points, the first being his assertion that the County’s water and sewer rates are lower than the City’s.  That assertion is simply not true. In fact, the total revenue from the conversion of both Indian River Shores and South Beach to County rates resulted in a net increase in the City’s water and sewer revenue. The numbers are what they are, regardless of what Faherty wants to pretend.

  1. A typical Faherty propaganda piece designed to mislead. So sad that a man with his education resorts to misinformation inorder to sway people’s thinking

  2. He’s a mouthpiece for Commissioner Solari. And, we all know the Commissioner has dreams of bankrupting the City and bloating the County government.
